It is necessary to prevent the formation of electrostatic charges and to ensure a defined, harmless and controlled "soft" discharge for uncontrolled or delayed charges. This is achieved by careful personal and workplace equipment. In the personal equipment, the focus is on clothing. Dissipative shoes, an ESD-compliant work coat and a functional wrist grounding strap are required for each employee. The basis for an ESD-protected workplace equipment is a conductive floor system, dissipative workbenches and chairs as well as ESD-compatible tools. But effective ESD protection is only possible if all measures are combined.
